Thai food is quite delicious. You can explore the limits of your taste buds just by eating the food sold on the streets. However, every once in a while, you’ll get that nostalgic craving for western-style food. It is a phase that everyone is bound to pass through.
This is why I have created this guide to point out the various restaurants that provide food for foreign stomachs in Thailand.
Au Bon Pain
Au Bon Pain is a popular American chain restaurant in Bangkok. I have eaten quite a lot at this restaurant and I can assure you of a good time. It is a great place to meet other expatriates and tourists, and you will get quality and value for your money. The dishes I would recommend include the clam powder soup, toasted double cheese bagel, chef salad or any other chicken soup.
The Smokin’ Pug
If you are looking for the best barbecue joint in all of Thailand, then The Smokin’ Pug is the right place for you. Although it’s just a few years old, it is among the best in Thailand. It was once rated number 1 in TripAdvisor’s list of the best restaurants in Bangkok. Although it is now number 4, it is still among the best.
However, the price of their food happens to be on the high side at around 750 baht. I can assure you that it is well worth every penny-or baht.
Bourbon Street Restaurant and Bar
This restaurant is arguably one of the best restaurants in town. This is not mere speculation as they have repeatedly bagged the award of best restaurant in Bangkok. At Bourbon Street Restaurant and Bar, you are sure to get the best of Cajun food with chicken, Mexican food, steak and other Thai delicacies. One reason why I actually love this restaurant is because the food actually tastes western. One reason for this might be because it is American-run.
Bella Napoli
Bella Napoli is your best bet if you are looking to have the best pizza in town. You can locate the restaurant at Sukhumvit Soi 31. They specialize in thin-crust pizza and deep-dish pizza. If you are a pizza lover, this is your salvation in all of Bangkok.
The Irish Exchange
The Iris Exchange is the right place to get the best British food. It has gained a following among the expat crowd for its excellent Christmas dinner. It is also a good place to get a taste of western Beer, if you are an avid drinker. You should seriously try their Irish stew, pie or fish and chips.
Three on Convent
You can find this restaurant at 3 Swiss Lodge Hotel, Convent Road. The address is probably why the name of the restaurant is Three on Convent. This restaurant would be best for those who love their Swiss and Northern California food. I have tried their chocolate mousse, Apple Pie a la Mode, Boston Clam Chowder Soup, Basil Chicken Pizza, Caesar Salad and Wiener Schnitzel. There is only one word you can use to describe the food – excellent!!
If you really want to enjoy western food in Thailand, you should watch out for any restaurants that are owned and operated by westerners. I am sure that you would have a good time by visiting these restaurants.
